Ghislaine was a dragon living in the time of the Premen, not too long after the Fain had arrived on Earth and begun their dragon-breeding programs. Ghislaine was to be illumined to Gwilanna's mother, a Pri:magon priestess. But before she could be illumined, the priestess committed an unknown blasphemy of the highest order, and was therefore slain. Once a dragon had even bonded a little with a being, the Fain did not want them illumined to another for fear of old connections remaining. Ghisliane was then "discarded". She has been dead for ages, but her spirit still haunts the Inuit skies, even after her fire tear was shed. On special occasions, she returns to what was her nest: the center of the standing stone on Farlowe Island, such as at the attack of the Ix:risor.
